Hackney Council commissioned Social LIfe and Hatch Regeneris to understand the social, cultural and economic impact of the 2019 Hackney Carnival on the borough. The aim has been to equip the council with a better understanding of the benefits, opportunities and challenges of Hackney Carnival as it grows in size and reputation.
The research included face-to-face and online survey of 551 people attending the Carnival, a face-to-face survey plus focus groups with 53 local businesses, a survey of 22 Carnival traders and discussions with stakeholders.
Hatch Regeneris carried out the economic impact assessment, Social LIfe carried out the social impact assessment.
