We worked with the City of Malmö as part of the Social Life of Cities collaborative, focusing on Lindängen, a suburban area of the city with a diverse population, facing more social issues than most of the rest of the city.
We developed a placemaking model, based on what we know about what makes places thrive, and how to nurture local social innovation; and then explored whether this could be funded through social investment.
The City of Malmö are taking forward this work, and are in discussions with the Swedish government, the European Investment Bank, and different local and national agencies, including potential investors.
This report summariss our scoping research and the proposals we made.
