Since March 2021, Social Life has been supporting a participatory action research project run by Age UK Lewisham and Southwark (funded by Southwark Council’s Common Purpose Fund). The project aims to build a community of seniors and carers who are interested in learning more about social research and are keen to use these skills to improve their local communities.
This is part of our pro bono work for 2021.
Social Life is providing training on research methods, mentoring and advising on collaborative research until December 2021. The goal of the participatory work is to build a community of citizen researchers and support them to identify and address local issues that matter to them.
The Citizen Research Community project draws on good practice examples, and local and national networks and partnerships. Using action research as a tool for local change, the participants in the project hope to allow seniors and carers in Southwark to bring about the changes and improvements they would like to see locally.
