The Social Life of Cities program ran from 2012-2014 working with community organisations, city authorities and local stakeholders to explore new approaches to urban social innovation.
The program was a collaboration between Social Life, Cisco, the City of Malmö, the University of Chicago's Office of Civic Engagement and McCaffery Interests.
Outputs from the program include: a project with community organisations and high school students in Chicago to develop a crime mapping and reporting app; work with the City of Malmö to develop an innovative new placemaking model for priority neighbourhoods in the City; a series of global video debates about innovation in placemaking including a debate about what London can learn from high-rise living in Asian cities; and a series of essays about grass-roots social innovation from cities around the world.
