Social Life has been asked by Hackney Council to evaluate the social and economic impact of the Shoreditch & Hackney Community Art Fund.
The Art Fund uses "section 106" funding from new developments in the south of Hackney to support art and cultural projects that directly benefit local communities. The aim is to make sure that everyone benefits from development and that disparities between the two areas are reduced. Shoreditch is Hackney's main economic centre while Hoxton has high levels of deprivation.
We will also be putting together a good practice guide for other planning authorities interested in using s106 and CIL funding to support community arts.
