Jonah joined Social Life in December 2019 and worked as a researcher until summer 2021. At Social Life he worked on the different projects including research into social infrastructure and social integration commissioned by GLA; and indepth work in areas of Southwark going through change.
Prior to this he worked as a researcher and coordinator for the planning consultancy The URBED Trust whose director Dr Nicholas Falk co-authored Peter Hall’s last book Good City, Better Lives.
He holds an MA in Building and Urban Design in Development from UCL’s Development Planning Unit, which focussed on methodologies that link community life to top-down planning frameworks through co-design and participation. His undergraduate degree however was in Human Geography which he studied at King’s College London, and focused more on spatialising qualitative and quantitative research methods of understanding the city.
His interests are in community development and the capacity building of civil-society, particularly in relation to vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. He ultimately aims to continue working to understand the diverse perspectives of the city through as many innovative methods as possible.
