Brixton Green

Social Life worked with Brixton Green to engage local residents in the development of detailed and realistic plans for the future of Somerleyton Road.

Our work involved organising and running a series of community action workshops, to provide a space for residents to discuss issues that were identified as critical for the development of proposals for the site. The evidence and information gathered from the workshops fed into Brixton Green's work with Lambeth Council and Ovalhouse.

Our action planning workshops focused on four themes:

  • Housing and public realm
  • Wellbeing, education and culture
  • Employment, training and local businesses
  • Long-term stewardship

In 2012 Social Life provided pro bono support to Brixton Green to carry out a small research project to assess levels of resilience amongst the communities that are adjacent to Brixton Green's proposed regeneration site.
